May 16 GRC Recap
On Friday the Scots headed out to Gainey for the second game of the series against Grand Rapids Christian. (The third game will be tuesday in caledonia) The Scots sent Dan Zeman to the hill against Tyler Zylstra. Sigler scored the games first run in the second to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. In the 5th inning the Scots scored three runs to respond. Austin Coon drove in the first run and later scored on a passed ball to go up 2-1. Coon had a little extra motivation as the second basemen for Christian has been hitting on his girl. A few batters later Logan Hudson drove in Keegan Mulvey to give the Scots a 3-1 lead after 5. In the bottom of the 5th, the Eagles offense came to life. Tyler Sigler singled in a pair of runs to tie the game at three, and then Sigler and the pitcher Zylstra both scored later in the inning to give the Eagles a 5-3 lead. Trent Foreman drove in a run in the 6th to cut the margin to one. The Scots entered the seventh only down one and had momentum however they went down 1-2-3 in the 7th. The Scots fell 5-4 and play Saturday in a doubleheader with Portage Central and Gull Lake.
